Star Trek on IMAX

Well, I went to see Star Trek on IMAX last weekend and it was VERY impressive. This was the third time I have seen the new Star Trek movie, which I totally love. And while I am not a huge IMAX fan, the scenes of the Enterprise and Kelvin in IMAX are worth the price of admission alone.

New Space Dock is way cooler than the old!
I was always open minded towards the new Star Trek. I said as far back as Star Trek: Nemesis that STar Trek needed an entirely new direction. My friends remember me saying "We need Michael Bay doing Trek!". Well, fortunately we did better, getting JJ Abrahms, rather than Micahel Bay (hmmm, same writing crew though!). I am not a huge fan of Transformers, though it was cool. But JJ hit all the right notes in the new Trek. I love the actors, and the new Spock. Scotty is awesome and Karl Urban kills as Bones. Of course I hate the engine room, but I will give JJ that.

Robau kicks ass!

We want to see more of the other Starfleet ships!

So if you have a chance, support the new Trek and see it more than once, and in IMAX if you can!

Battlestar Auctions back in full swing on eBay

For those of you who are crossover collectors like me, we at Propworx are proud to be in the home stretch of our Battlestar Galactica auctions on eBay. We have about 8 weeks of auctions left, and this Sunday, the first of those auctions will be closing.

There are 154 items up for bid and you can find something in every price range. Two of the top items are Helo's stunt flight suit. Now it says stunt because it wasn't worn by Tamoh Penikett, but it still is a beautiful flight suit and one that would look good in any collection. With non-character flight suits going between $ 3,500 and $ 4,500, you can expect this one to go in that range.

Also up this week is Colonel Tigh's Dog tags! Yeah, you got to love the old guy. And the actor, Michael Hogan, was a class act who came to both of our live auctions. His tags should go in the $ 1,000 - $ 1,500 range.

So check out the auctions here and have fun! It is all coming to and end soon!

Props & Costumes on DIsplay at the Arclight Cinemas

If you are lucky enough to live in L.A., you know about the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood (which incorporates the old Cinerama Dome) and in Sherman Oaks.

Well my good buddy Jack Morrisey, Damaris and I went to the Arclight after Brunch the Sunday before the BSG auction and checked out the costumes and props. Here are photos of them all.

The props were all in a single display case

The Kelvin Phaser looks like our old TOS one

Ditto for the Kelvin Communicator

A Klingon Device from the deleted scenes

Romulan Rifle

Stuff that was never used (Probably because it was too ugly!)

Klingon pistols that were probably used in the deleted Rura Penthe scenes...also ugly.

More to come tomorrow!

Battlestar Galactica Live Auction # 2

If you haven't been following the BSG auctions, you should be! Not just because my new company Propworx is handling them (and showing what the Star Trek auctions by IAW should have been like), but because there is lots of cool stuff!

Go to www.battlestarprops.com

Also, if you are coming to the auction, we are going to see Star Trek Thursday night. See me at Preview Day for details.
